Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl

So, I was listening to this song "Paper Bag" by Fiona Apple just a few minutes ago. The song was about how ironic life is and how you can't let that stop you. There are good times and bad in your life and it's okay if they happen. It's about how you're mind tells you what you want to see, but that's not what's there at all. Does that make sense?
Let me explain further. I think it was saying how our mind controls us and it knows what it wants. Like, for a man. You want to see him as a man; That's what the mind did. It made him a man. When you're just somehow hallucinating and he's really just a boy. A perfect example is parents. They think their kids are perfect when they're not. They want to think they're good kids, when, once again, they're not. It's just the tricks of the mind.
There's also this song by the Gorillaz talking about how this perfect society of monkeys called Happy Folk live happily when one day, 'evil' monkeys called the Strange Folk invaded, but the Happy Folk didn't notice them. They only saw the Strange Folk's shadows. Then the song had this really nice like saying, "Without the truth of the eyes, the Happy Folk were blind." I think that explains my point perfectly.
